Notes on this piece Clizia was a water Nymph.
Apollo, whom Clizia always loved, did not love her.
She went into deep sorrow and after nine days she was transformed by the Gods into a beautiful sunflower (girasole), which turns its head always to look longingly at Apollo's chariot of the sun !
This work can be considered as a stylization of the metamorphosis from Nymph to flower: it wants to highlight, with rhythmic sounds, her “tears” that allow always to follow the loved Apollo.
