Born in Seoul, Korea, in 1981. He studied composition with Shinuh Lee at Seoul National University and received Bachelor of Music in Composition (2004). He is currently working on his Master’s degree at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (Kunstuniversität Graz) with Beat Furrer since 2009.

He attended and received master classes from Unsuk Chin, Klaus Lang, Georg Friedrich Haas, Marco Stroppa, Jukka Tiensuu and Brian Ferneyhough, among others. He has regularly collaborated with PPCM Ensemble (Graz) under the direction of Klangforum Wien, and also worked with Avanti! Chamber Orchestra (FIN), Ensemble Marges (GER), ensemble mosaik (GER), Ensemble Platypus (Wien), Curious Chamber Players (SWE) and Helsinki Chamber Choir (FIN).

His works were performed in Korea, Austria, Finland, Germany and France. In 2011, he was awarded 2nd prize at the "Young Virtuosos" International Competition, and selected for various composition workshops, such as Sävellyspaja (2011, FIN), Time of music (2011, FIN), 5. Junges Deutsches Komponistenforum (2011), Franz-Liszt-Stipendium Weimar Composition Workshop (2012), 46. Darmstadt International Summer Courses for New Music (Reading Session, 2012), "Voix nouvelles" Composition session in Royaumont Abbey (2012), impuls akademie (Young Ensemble in Residency, 2013), and Dian Red Kechil International Young Composers Residency (2013, Singapore).
