Juliane Klein (born in 1966) lives in Berlin and is active in the music scene since 1987, when she co-founded the Kammerensemble Neue Musik Berlin. She studied at the Hochschule für Musik „Hanns Eisler, Berlin and thereafter as a postgraduate student with Helmut Lachenmann in Stuttgart. She received various prizes and awards (e.g. residence scholarships for the Cité Internationale des Arts Paris, Künstlerhof Schreyahn, Akademie Schloss Solitude Stuttgart, and Villa Massimo in Rome). In 1999 she founded the music publishing house “Edition Juliane Klein”. Her works were played by the State Operas of Berlin, Stuttgart, Hannover and other opera houses. She has received commissions from leading performing organisations as from the Scharoun-Ensemble of the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Deutschlandfunk Köln, the Freiburger Barockorchester, the Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik, the Donaueschinger Musiktage, and the Münchener Biennale. In 2010 she has become a Christian Science Practitioner.
