Introspective and provocative, the music of Martín Gendelman (b. 1976, Neuquén, Argentina) is built on the idea of sound as a living, organic phenomenon, and it explores the connections with the visual and acoustic elements in a performing space. Developed both for acoustic and electronic media, his creative output includes works for solo performer, chamber groups, and large ensembles, as well as cross-disciplinary works and installations (primarily with dance, video, and theater). 


Over the past twenty years, his music has been performed across the Americas, Europe, and the Middle East. He has collaborated with many acclaimed performers and ensembles such as the Da Capo Chamber Players (USA), Meitar Ensemble (Israel), Galan Trio (Greece), Tambor Fantasma Percussion Ensemble (Argentina), Jorge Variego (Argentina/USA), Adrianne Munden-Dixon (USA/Canada), and Valentín Garvie (Argentina/Germany) to name a few. Some of the events in which he has taken part, either as a guest composer or lecturer, include the Festival Forfest in the Czech Republic, CEME New Music Festival in Israel, the Visiones Sonoras International Festival of Musics and New Technologies in Mexico, Festival No Convencional in Buenos Aires, the Mise-En Festival in New York, the Parma Music Festival, and other festivals and conferences.


His self-published works are available through BabelScores and directly from the composer. Recordings of his music have been released through Neuma Records, CMMAS, and the University of Idaho.

He is Professor of Music in the Fred and Dinah Gretsch School of Music at Georgia Southern University where he heads the music composition and theory area, having previously taught at the University of Maryland, College Park, University of Maryland Baltimore County, Towson University, The Catholic University of America, and the Levine School of Music.  

He currently lives in Savannah, Georgia.
