I am an artist and music composer currently living and working in Amsterdam and Vienna. My practice includes creating sculptures, installations, and performances. I also use music composition as a mechanism for contemplating the imperceptible. I focus on how sound affects and resonates with a body physiologically and psychologically, and how critical listening can deepen, extend and set connections to other acoustic ecologies other than anthropophony– the sounds generated directly by humans, or by our technology.
I am fascinated by the connection between sound and sculpture, and how these two mediums can blend together to create a unique sensory experience. Materiality, spatiality, temporality, expression, and interaction are all aspects that play a role in this intriguing relationship. My work responds directly to the surrounding environment and uses everyday listening experiences as a starting point. I work with natural forms that do not necessarily follow an organic logic, but expand through many retakes and variations, ending with an entirely new arrangement. I am interested in body autonomy, empowerment, inclusivity and solidarity and the significance of the material in sculpture and sound. I believe that our own acoustic agency is essential, and I am committed to exploring silenced voices and extending our focus beyond anthropophony to include different ecologies that have no voice. I focus on critical listening and the visualization of it, paying attention to the deeper layers of structures, texture, form, and materiality.
My work invites us to contemplate the intricate and dynamic nature of our bodily ecosystems and how we are interconnected to the environment. It encourages us to engage in critical listening and better understand the complexity of our existence. I consider us as complex ecosystems that are constantly interacting with our environment.
