Play all audio recordingsSiraseth Pantura-umporn is Bangkok based composer whose compositions integrate eastern philosophy and tradition through western techniques and medium. Long tone chant, Buddhist meditation and decorated sounds are the foundation of his fertile creativities. Thai classical music as his heritage from homeland is also significant root of musical spiritual where he based most of the compositions on.
His works have been programmed by international groups including New Japan Philharmonic, Tokyo Philharmonic, Internazionale d’Italia, Bangkok Symphony, Luxembourg Sinfonietta, Ensemble Kochi, Ensemble Multilatérale, Pan-Pacific Ensemble, Amigo Saxophone Quartet, Ensemble TIMF and Soloists including Peter Veale, Teodoro Anzellotti, Satoko Inoue, Takeo Tchinai, Yoichi Sugiyama, at several venues and festivals including ISCM, ACL , Ryogoku Art Festival, Suntory Hall, Tokyo Operacity, Villa Musica Rheinland-Pflaz, Herrenhaus Edenkoben, MATA Festival, Huddersfield. Beside studied with 2 leading Thai composers Narongrit Dhamabutra and Weerachat Premananda he has further lessons with Peter Eötvös and Aaron Cassidy
He has received several award in composition including 23rd Irino Prize, 2014 Takemitsu award, Asia Pacific composition competition, Thailand international saxophone composition competition, 3 consecutive years of Young Thai Artists awards. In 2016, He was a composer in resident in Herrenhaus Edenkoben, Germany for 5 months and in 2017-2018, He was a visiting researcher in Huddersfield University,UK. For 4 1/2 months.
