Born in Istanbul in 1990, Uğurcan Öztekin has studied composition at Kocaeli University State Conservatory with Mehmet Ali Uzunselvi. He attended masterclasses given by Mark Andre, Jerome Combier, Mahir Çetiz, Dmitri Kourliandski, Yannis Kyriakides, José Manuel López López, Elzbieta Sikora and Onur Türkmen. Before his composition studies, he also studied History of Art at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (2008-2012).

 

     His music has been performed in Bulgaria, Canada, France, Germany, Montenegro, Netherlands, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and United Kingdom at concerts and festivals such as Sesin Yolculuğu Genç Besteciler Festivali (2013-2017), Atlas Festival (2014), Computer Space International Computer Art Forum (2015&2017), Festival Mixtur (2016), Donaueschinger Musiktage:Next Generation Concert (2017), International Composers Seminar in St. Petersburg Closing Concert (2017), Barcelona Modern Festival (2018), ME_MMIX18 Festival Pirineus- Mediterrània Modern (2018), Österreichisches Kulturforum Österreich-Türkei-Projekt (2018), Festival Turbulences Sonores (2018), Baroquestock Festival (2019) and Festival Unicum (2019).

 

     He worked with ensembles, performers and conductors such as Ensemble Airborne Extended (Vienna), Atlas Ensemble (Amsterdam), Barcelona Modern Ensemble (Barcelona), Ensemble Diagonal (Paris), Hezarfen Ensemble (İstanbul),İstanbul Composers Collective (İstanbul), Molot Ensemble (St. Petersburg), Pre-Art Soloists (Zürich), Ensemble Sinfonietta für Neue Musik (Trossingen); Tekin Okcebe, Gökhan Bağcı; Artyom Kim, Orhun Orhon, Rut Schereiner, Sven Thomas Kiebler, and Xavier Pagès-Corella.

 

     His music is broadcasted on Deutschlandfunk Kultur (Germany) and WebSYN Radio (France). Since 2016 his compositions are published by BabelScores.

 

     Öztekin is co-founder and co-artistic director of İstanbul Composers Collective. He lives and works in İstanbul.
