La Quebrada del Grito (The Breaking of the Scream) is an acousmatic composition built as a syncretic complex polymorphic texture of a traditional "baguala" (NorthWest Argentinian folk chant from Quechua cultures), a poem by Argentine poet Pablo Anadón and a scream recorded by the composer himself. The composition can be seen as a granular exploration of textures and sonic sources, as well as a song-based form or a catharsis of personal tragedies.
This piece won the 1999 Bourges competition being awarded the first prize in the acousmatic category, the New York Foundation for the Arts 2000 grant, the American Composers Forum grant, the Unesco Rostrum of composers mention in 2000 in Europe and the Compositores Cordobeses competition in 2000 in Argentina. It is a stereophonic piece. Duration 11'.
