Notes on this piece Assemblage is composed for soloists and ensemble with conductor in 2011. The musicians must not only play their instruments but behave as special characters on stage. The bassoon ‘soloist’ mostly read newspaper and practices orchestral materials as if being on orchestra musician at rehearsal. The trumpet ‘soloist’ is a clown that constantly moves around the ensemble. The percussionist is a hawker in a traveling circus that plays musical sounds to the audience as if selling seeds, pop corn etc. so he disturbs the performance. The horn player is the real soloist of the piece.
