Primera Sonata

Although Xavier Beteta had already composed three tonal sonatas as a teenager, he considers this one his first piano sonata as it is written in an atonal style. The work is dedicated to Beteta's composition teacher Rodrigo Asturias and his influence can be appreciated in the use of series and harmonies derived from those series. It was written in Guatemala during 2010-2011. The composer revised it in 2016.
