The central idea of "a place you call home" is the exploration of sound as a textural medium through construction and de-construction of rhythmic figures, and through constant and non-linear variation of harmonic density.
The overall harmonic course is determined by intermodulation of the spectral components of oboe multiphonics with four-note chords played by the viola. The resulting spectra are then articulated through rhythmic-melodic constructs that establish a certain degree of density and irregularity, consequently determining the character of phases and sections.
The rhythmic-melodic profile presents itself as irregular in both its overall shape and in the duration of single events, leading to the superposition of phrases of different length, often blurring the contour of the harmonic progression. The instruments find themselves relentlessly intertwined in an irregular, highly energetic and unstable mechanism.
