Grab them by the pussy! Is an interdisciplinary project that unites the experiences of mostly women but also men as regards everyday sexism and misogyny. The goal of the project is that people have the chance to talk openly about their experiences and share them with others. This can be done anonymously or using their own name.
The idea is articulated by the interaction of two instruments (Bass clarinet and violin) with a background video, which launches a series of images at full speed.
The title of the piece comes from some declarations of Donald Trump, that were filtered during his presidential campaign and went viral. In those declarations the former president of the USA stated that if you have money and power you can do whatever you want with women, as if they were mere objects. Unfortunately many girls and women still have to face such comments and discrimination in a daily basis.
The background video is a compilation of sexist examples that many women have to face during their different life stages. It gathers images, sentences, words and real life experiences from people all around the world. The final goal of this bombardment of explicit images is to make the audience aware of a social problem that affects a wide part of our society, both in their private and professional life. About the end of the piece a series of quotations are projected. Those are real statement of women, that freely wanted to collaborate in such a project and share their experiences.
