Notes on this piece
Das Nein-Doch Spiel
Two children sit in a bus. The first looks at the second and says: “No...” The second replies: “yes.” The first insists: “No!” The second persists: “Yes!” Their duel goes on - “NO! YES! NO! NO! YES! NO!” Their game reaches a point where both words lose their meaning and turn into mere comic objects – children’s toys. The two are delighted with the funny power of repetition and keep playing with the reactions and expectations of each other – “YES! NO? NO? YES! NO!” - The absurd game comes only to an end when some other toy captures their attention. On the row behind them sits a much older boy. He attentive observes the two and wonders how all this could maybe fit into a new composition...
