Notes on this piece Second piece of the Soyuz series, this time for six amplified instruments.
A retro-psi-fi trip, the piece starts at the launch pad. Soyuz spaceship takes off burning great quantity of fuel. It makes efforts to get off the atmosphere and travels suffering some major damages. Nevertheless it gets on through coloured hallucinatory psi-fi textures, revealing mysterious atmospheres and making even use of caricatural gestures.
If everything goes fine the six passengers-musicians (and the public himself) will achieve the mission and hopefully arrive safe to destination.
The piece use a two octave Moog Sub-phatty synthesizer creating unpredictable noisy sounds and virtuous keyboard passages inspired by 70s records by Return to Forever, Pink Floyd, Yes.
Commissioned by Festival Présences 2020, Radio France.
Premiered by Ensemble Multilaterale on February 16, 2020.
