Le cortege de la lumiere

There are three main sections in this piece. These are preceded and followed by another section that consists of non-pitched materials. The first section focuses on a single pitch (A), which gradually evolves into two pitches (A and G). Different timbres are created through the different combinations of instruments. The second section features an accumulating texture. The piling up of the same melodic lines creates a sound mass. There are three melodic lines in this section, and the textural difference is done by re-orchestration. The third section, as a contrast to the previously heard materials, features a rhythmically driven passage. It is the climatic part of the piece.
In this piece, the music gradually transforms from a single pitch to layer of sound, then to sound mass, also the music moves gradually from a low register to the full register in the ensemble. The lowest pitch A0 on the piano is featured in this piece. It appears in a musical fragment, which sounds for seven times. This fragment acts as pillar between the transformations among sections. This fragment itself also undergoes smooth transformations before reaching the climatic section.
