Rather than depending on each instrument’s specific features, Passage nurtures through its harmonic articulation – among other things – what could be called a "sound solidarity".
The musical flow does not invite to distant connections such as those one can have when contemplating a picture. On the contrary, it induces us to engage our life experience in a musical "fabric". Little by little, the musical discourse gets organized through hints that become more and more vivid. Nevertheless, this focus and its insistent nature are disrupted several times by the incursion of characteristic sequences. The title of this composition comes from this aspect. By going through it, one can wonder about the importance of what is crossed and what is crossing… about the importance of passage.
