Soundless as dots on a disk of snow is a verse that I took from Emily Dickinson’s Safe in their Alabaster Chambers. Contrary to the solemnity of the poem, I was fascinated with the multiple sonic possibilities that the line connoted, especially the idea of ‘soundless’ as a space for the interaction of subtle natures. Therefore, the piece is constituted by five miniatures in which I propose the creation and development of particular timbres, inspired in my imaginary experience with the snow (which I had never seen at the time of composing this work) in a dynamic process of disintegration.
