The title is a joke about the double meaning – musical, psychological, political, and in the everyday life – of the terms (aria pesante = heavy air).The composition is a unique long and heavy theme that gradually gather way, gravity, depth and speed, until the climax, an 'ostinato' by the piano producing a rythmic dialog with the bass clarinet that ends with the reappearance of the first bars of the 'aria'.
