Rudiments
Piece for 4 spatially distributed snare drums.
Rudiments can be regarded as “electronic music” played by four acoustic snare drums which are positioned around the audience. As their individual sound structures melt together during the performance, those four drums are creating a vivid three-dimensional sound organism that is spread out over the entire concert space, capturing the ears of the listeners. Without any electro-acoustic means, a surround sound environment is created solely by four simple snare drums.
