Notes on this piece
Vocalize the Voicelessness
The idea of the piece is the composer’s exploration of blending noise and pitch. “Voicelessness” in the title is related to the unconventional techniques used in the piece and throughout the piece, four musicians are in search of an ideal sound to turn the voicelessness into singing sound and try to create a coherent whole of noise and pitch. The piece was composed for Ensemble Ascolta to be premiered during Dian Red Kechil International Young Composers’ Residency in 2013, later revised for Composers Conference at Wellesley College in 2014.
