Transformation of the Hummingbird

The compositional idea behind this piece was to interpret through music the migratory path of the hummingbird as it flies from New England to the Yucatan Peninsula each year. The music moves through a wide variety of ‘topographies’ (linear, harmonic, etc.), to imitate the hummingbird’s flight experience by always changing and moving musically forward to create a continuous refreshment and stratification of sound forms from beginning to end.
