“En el aserradero del tiempo,
Cae la selva obscura,
Oscuro nace el hombre
(Pablo Neruda Oda a la madera)
("In the sawmill of time, The dark forest falls, Dark Man is born. Pablo Neruda, Wood's Ode)
Taking the division of unity between 7 = 0.14285 (6) of these numbers arises this issue for a composition of type "Theme with Variations", a tree-like form, living wood from which a musical instrument is made, wherein the vacuum created inside is serves as conduit or box or resonator ... absence and presence, metaphor of indiscriminate deforestation of forests and total neglect of our planet by the human being. So taking shape of this piece is something like: birth (roots and theme) song (chant, slow painful) arborescence (variations) and death (coda) of a tree being, a living being. The score is written in tree form, from bottom to top, also alluding to the I-Ching reading, so that the interpreter starts reading from the roots then the trunk, culminating in the tree arborescence. The piece was premiered by Horacio Franco in the International Cervantino Festival in 1991
