Notes on this piece All the percussion instruments utilized in And I'll Beat My Own Drum are of indefinite pitch, following the model of Xenakis's Rebonds. Rhythmic cells with a recurring contour are repeated with constant variation, creating a polyphonic texture of voices operating in different tempi. The name of the piece is taken from the song Dykes and the Holy War of the band Pollyanna Frank. The piece was commissioned by Lev Loftus.
