Myunghoon Park

Korean composer Myunghoon Park(b.1980, Seoul, Korea) received his Bachelor for Composition degree from Hanyang University in Korea. In Germany, he received a diploma in Composition and Master in Composition and Electronic Composition from Hochschule für Musik Köln. He is currently studying Aufbaustudium-Komposition at Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf. Starting to win the Korean composition competition organized by C.M.S.S. (Contemporary Music Society in Seoul), he has received numerous grand prizes from Asian Composers League-Korea Newcomer Competition and JoongAng Music Concours in Seoul. His pieces were selected in Seoul Composition Music Festival for lied, chamber, and orchestral music. He was the first Korean winner who became the finalist in Queen Elisabeth Competition for Composer in Brussels. As he was selected as a recipient of the international scholarship of Hanyang University, he started to study abroad in Germany and was selected in Gaudeamus Competition in Amsterdam, Netherland. He was selected in Komponistenstudio hosted by Ensemble Modern and performed in Berlin. He presented and included his music on the album at Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik in 2012 which is a contemporary music festival held in Witten, Germany. His pieces were performed by Ensemble Modern, IEMA-Ensemble, nieuw ensemble, Ensemble Handwerk, Ensemble Eins, soprano Charlotte Riedijk and violinist Barbara Maurer (a member of Ensemble Recherche). His music “jam für Ensemble” was also first performed by commission of Deutschlandfunk. He is currently the Artistic Director of Ensemble Eins.
