This piece explores paradigms of fluidity in sound production. The instruments are tightly intertwined as to obtain a mass of sound that is then placed in a state of constant transformation and non-uniform motion.
The piano player plays both a piano (light preparation and some extended techniques are required) and a MIDI keyboard. This latter is connected to a computer and sound card and controls a digital synthesizer programmed in Max 8. A midi expression pedal is necessary to obtain expressive dynamics. The piano an keyboard should be placed in a way that the musician can play both at once.
The saxophone player triggers the electronics (tape fragments) via a MIDI pedal.
The electronics are stereo but can be diffused on a multichannel system in real-time (acousmatically). Amplification of the saxophone and piano is recommended as to accomplish ideal balance between the parts.
