This piece, composed during summer 2016, is inspired by India; it is a far-off and invented inspiration, fed by listening to travel writings and sounds, but nevertheless very present. According to indian mythology, Brahmâ divinity created the universe by sound, and not by the Word as we state in the West, thus transforming religion into a dialectical machine.
The title « Fil de soi » refers in french both to a « fil de soie », that is a silk thread, and without the final ‘e’ « Fil de soi » to an introspective path in our personal labyrinth –like Ariadna’s thread. It also refers to mixed music for guitar and live electronics: the threads/strings of the guitare linked to the threads/wires of the electronics.
In the electronic part, we continue our research on realtime timbre transformation of the instrument, that is the only sound material (there are no pre-recorded files) with the inspiration of indian sitar.
The piece is dedicated to Amèlia Mazarico, an outstanding guitar player I am happy to collaborate with.
