Rhino was composed for Brazilian saxophonist Pedro Bittencourt, it is written for baritone saxophone and fixed electronics. Throughout the piece I used a special ultrathin synthetic reed which I developed using digital fabrication techniques. This reed allows me to go beyond the standard saxophone sound and create new sonorities. The acoustic model of baby rhino cry has been resynthesized by the saxophone and used in the last section in the piece.
