Change and identity

Comparable to our own lifes, where every successful change contributes to our identity as humans, in music every change made to a composition gives it form. When it is performed, it is converted into a living identity, which, in spite of occasional perceptible or even radical changes, always maintain a unity, a sound identity. Taking into account that in music we can turn back to the beginning or to the middle, and make changes to the piece for the better, every composer takes and makes his compositions, comparable to a short history of himself.
