Descripción
Foco
The piece Foco is about short and sudden attacks that are gradually sustained, developed into melodies, then into masses of gestures. The idea is to explore the subtle changes from one thing to another (from short to sustained sounds), gradually transforming the sudden attacks into textures. After the third texture, a second section starts with very noisy attacks, played mainly by the percussion. From the resonance of these attacks, a violin solo emerges with other instruments sustaining notes of the solo, representing a reverb effect. This effect is then developed into another texture that gradually fades away, having a percussive background with the bass drum and the piano, until a last attack finishes the piece. The portuguese word "Foco" means "focus" in english and is a reference to the sharp attacks of the beginning of the piece
