Nuga

Nuga belongs to a group of a few compositions, written end 70s and along 80s, involving one or more “soloists” (Dialogues, for flute, oboe and strings / Musica concertante for viola and 13 instruments…). But it seems an illusory soloist, whose role is continually threatened by the strings (intrusive or emergent…). Soloist and strings try a fusion; utopian! The piano remains the Piano, with its heavy great and unique centuries’ tradition and amazing repertoire.
The piano begins with a kind of music box while hissing strings allure… but progressively the “Prince” pretends its energies without compromise with emergent strings.
In the last sixteen bars a caressing atmosphere brings together piano and strings on the “G” note; the initial of my daughter Giulia, born while “Nuga” was going to be finished.
