In “stairs”, the musical process avoids transitions and cuts. The music manifests itself in a constant “here and now”, trying to be independent at any time. Nevertheless, the music finds itself in a constant change – just as an object that is being examined from different angles over and over again, with the result that its smallest facets appear outsized and as if they were “new”.
