Descripción Etude Fm-En-Bb -semitone (Hommage à G. F. H.) was composed in 2007 for trombone quartet and is dedicated to the CORPUS Trombone quartet.
The basic idea of the piece came from the harmonic possibilities of the trombone that is rich in overtones. The spectral sounds of the piece are referring to the compositional method of the Austrian composer, Georg Friedrich Haas (see the capital letters of his name in the title of my piece) to whom the piece is an hommage.
The three sections of the piece are mainly built on the overtones of the pitches given in the title. After composing the piece I realised that these pitches have the same chord-constellation (a semitone lower) that comes from the capital letters of G. F. Haas’s name.
World premier: October 31, 2007 – Fészek Klub, Budapest. CORPUS Trombone quartet
