Movimento lento

Starting from a previous work – a wind trio, Apud lumen – I continue in the fascination of an inner calmness with Movimento Lento. The similar atmosphere means now an aptitude to reflection one of phrases and short intervals between the voices they suddenly conquer and leave mirror-like bigger spaces. The news of Goffredo Petrassi's death, when I was still writing, convince me to dedicate him the short composition. As in my twenty years before choir piece Tenebrae facte sunt, I refer to the short intensive passage “...che fummo?” from Petrassi's Coro di morti (text by Leopardi). What in the young work could be a simple quotation to a piece I appreciate, became now the main reason of the pages I've yet written and of their natural conclusion. Nothing is premeditated, but such as in a spiritual connection I find the result of the inner calmness I would evoke and both an humble way to remember my Maestro.
