The piece was written as a suggestion from the Argentinean pianist Haydée Schvartz for a piano concert at the presentation of the book Nuevas poéticas en la música contemporánea argentina (compiled by the Argentinean musicologist Pablo Fessel). The book contains articles of various Argentinean composers about their own poetic. The program of the concert included several short works from some of the authors of the articles of the book. de cimento e lágrima is made up of a retrospective of piano materials from previous works of the composer.
