The fragmented frame from which this piece is derived can be viewed as either a visual artwork suggestive of a network or as the blueprint for a musical structure. Music from a Fragmented Frame began with a strict realization of the original graphic, as if realizing an architectural blueprint. Then, the work was segmented and reassembled, exploring sonic connections not obvious from the original design but embedded in the network all the same. The result is a slow, contemplative work where the violoncello floats among three contrasting themes.
