In Blending II, the performer is given license to take the necessary time to really hear in a space. Composed at a time when public performance was not possible, the performer chooses a venue that resonates with personal significance. They are then encouraged to enhance and exaggerate the idiosyncrasies of that environment. This replaces the typical mode of overpowering or ignoring a venue’s so-called flaws. In this sense, the piece repairs the bond between the performer and their environment.
Blending II is intended to be performed in isolation, and disseminated electronically live and/or asynchronously.
