The Hindu cosmogonic traditions lend to the wind, born of the spirit, the power to generate light. In Greek civilization the winds are restless and turbulent deities, contained in the deep caves of the Aeolian Islands. The Iliad tells us that Zephyr is a violent or rainy west wind. Later we will consider it as a soft and light wind, a warm breeze which brings the melting of snow. It is a subtle breath that can caress, touch, whisper, but also go wild in a storm and express demonic anger! So many sensations that inspired Zéphyr's sound palette.
When François Veilhan asked me to write him a piece for alto flute, I was touched ... and delighted! I proposed to him to add fixed sounds, source of deployed spaces and incredible timbres. During our work sessions, we made some recordings that you will find more or less transformed in the part of fixed sounds. Zéphyr is dedicated to François Veilhan whom I warmly thank for these moments of sharing, his kindness, his constant curiosity and his immense talent.
