Descripción
unlock the piano (2014)
a game piece for upright piano, flute, bass clarinet, violin, cello and live audiovisual processes
The piece attempts to “unlock” the piano world, the piano performance, the preconditions thatallow piano performance, the piano itself and its parts as physical and mechanical object(s). It is a game piece, in which the performers follow game rules and enables the pianist to assemblethe piano. With every performance the piano will be assembled in a different way and differentmusical intervals will be heard. The use of the audio-video technology enables another “game”to be played in a secondary perception layer. The missing sound from the piano will be simulated from the ensemble and different synchronizations of the piano playing action with the simulated sound will take place. In the end the reversible properties of the lock-unlockinggesture will enable us to perceive the whole piece as that “it has just happened in the future”.
