Arash Yazdani
Play all audio recordingsIranian composer and conductor, Arash started his music studies at the music conservatoire of the city of Isfahan in Iran. He has studied at Tehran superior conservatory (University of Applied Science and Technology), The Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Hochschule für Musik Basel and Estonian Academy of Muisc and Theatre: and has earned degrees in piano, double bass, orchestral conducting and composition specialties.
Arash has been working as a bassist in the most major orchestras and chamber ensembles in Iran, including Tehran Symphony Orchestra and Iran National Orchestra. He has been working as pianist and accompanist in the main universities and conservatoire of Tehran for several years.
From 2012 he started a research and PhD position of composition at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, as well as a Specialized Master program of composition at the Hochschule für Musik in Basel to study with Georg Friedrich Haas.
As a conductor Arash has founded and is the artistic director and conductor of Ensemble for New Music Tallinn. As a guest conductor he worked with several ensembles including Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble (Russia), Lucern Festival Academy Orchestra (Switzerland/MANIFESTE 2014), Ensemble Intercontemporaine ( France/MANIFESTE 2014), Ensemble Resonabilis (Estonia), Namascae Lemanic Modern Ensemble (France), Chaotic Moebius (Switzerland).
Yazdani's music is recognised by its emphasize on the accoustical phenomena and creating unique hearing experience with the use of instruments. He has written pieces for Ensemble Phoenix Basel, Ensemble U:, KammarensembleN, Moscow Contemporary Ensemble, Green-Fairy Duo among the others. His works have been performed in different places across Europe including Paris, Stockholm, Zurich, Basel, Bern, Tallinn, Frankfurt, Schwetzingen, Brussels. His music had featured in the Schwetzinger SWR Festspiele, SESSION DE COMPOSITION VOIX NOUVELLES Royaumont Abbey foundation, Brussels Philharmonic’s TACTUS young composers forum, Moscow Ensemble Academy and Tallinn Music Week.
