Notes sur cette pièce

"The odd sound. What a mercy to have that to turn to. Now and then. In dark and silence to close as if to light the eyes and hear a sound. Some object moving from its place to its last place. Some soft thing softly stirring soon to stir no more. To darkness visible to close the eyes and hear if only that. Some soft thing softly stirring soon to stir no more." Samuel Beckett, Company

seam-sew was written over a period of several months encompassing the end of 2010 into the early part of 2011. It reflects a continuing pre-occupation with varying degrees of instability, on both local and general levels. Alberto Giacometti's lithograph, ' "Man Walking" in the studio', was a particular point of reference throughout my work on this piece. Its tangled, rough-hewn line and often unrefined surface are qualities I very much aspire to in my own work.
