“Ací em pariren i ací estic. I com que em passen certes coses, ací les cante, ací les dic” V.A. Estellés.
In a world where everyday life becomes an invisible prison, alienation manifests insidiously. Routine turns into a soul-devouring monster, trapping individuals in a labyrinth of trivial tasks.
The metaphor of liquidity, as described by Zygmunt Bauman, seeks to highlight the inconsistency of human relationships across various domains, such as the emotional or professional. In this context, people often feel alienated, disconnected, and disoriented due to rapid transformation and lack of rootedness. This sense of alienation resembles the themes of Franz Kafka, where individuals struggle to understand and find their place in an oppressive and absurd system.
I use text and voice (not only that of the singer) from different angles, as a means of communication and potential transmission of a message, or as phonetic decomposition which interests me from a purely sonic perspective. Words and their content serve as both meaning and sonic matter.
When I employ words with an intent to communicate, I have chosen some verses by Vicent Andrés Estellés, whose centenary is celebrated in 2024. Estellés' language is direct. His most notable qualities include simple yet evocative language and the use of everyday metaphors to address profound themes. His work is also characterised by a strong sense of historical memory and a denunciation of social injustices.
