Muthologos

This work, much like ‘1956-1958’ centers on a small amount of rhythmic and pitch material and finds a form through timbral variation.
In this case the form that emerged is less about repetition and more about motion. This motion emerges from inside all four instruments
throughout the course of the work, and culminates in the utterance of the bass clarinet at the end.
The biggest challenge of this piece is metrical. It is chamber music, and so I discourage the use of a conductor. A first meeting to figure
out cues is essential. It will create the sense of movement that is crucial for a convincing performance. It is necessary to know who leads
at any given bar, because this changes quite often.
