In Lotta Lotas's book The Black Sun (2010), the reader is met by a dense, poetic text that in 340 sections meticulously describes an unknown, somewhat post-apocalyptic, place. Each section delimits a specific room or a certain passage between them. These episodes are constantly leading on, as a reader you capriciously choose left, right, straight ahead, and are thus led towards new episode numbers, new rooms and new passages. Some readings lead one out of the building, others lead one back to the starting point.
In recent years, I have spent a lot of time suggesting and fantasizing about a possible music in this place. In the piece rumori ii, I let one of my many hallucinatory wanderings take place. In 27 interconnected parts, the listener is taken through this sonorous reading.
The music has no ambition to be illustrative in relation to the text, but it is impossible not to be influenced. In section 138 it is written: “The sound is a single, rolling, dull, booming rumble. Their mouths open into soft, smooth, intoning roundels.”
