There is general agreement as to the multi-layered nature of reality. However, differences in the characteristics and genesis of these layers are quickly visible.
Koans shatter overconfidence in judging this. By their paradox, they challenge all dualistic divisions.
"Is a musical koan possible?" the master's apprentice asked.
