This piece has to do with my ongoing fascination with instrumental identity; it is also about encouraging the act of listening – trying to draw out and into the listener’s attention the beauty and complexity of sound.

In this piece the cello is at the foreground: the electronics serve to augment or to challenge its sonic identity, which may be amplified, obscured, altered or distorted.

The idea of measures of reality – tactility and directness versus the implied and the elusive – is also a central one to the piece. Concrete and ethereal alternate or become mixed; sounds are foreshadowed or recollected. Veiled or muted sounds strive to become and to be heard.
