Jennifer’s Tigers is a setting of three poems by Adrienne Rich (“Aunt Jennifer’s Tigers,” “Power,” and “Our Whole Life” – used with permission from the estate of Adrienne Rich), but the poetry will be sung by a violin not vocal cords. Rhythm, phrasing, and dynamics are to be taken directly from the text by the performer without the intervention of a composer. The reason for this is best explained by the poems themselves.
