Notes sur cette pièce

This work was premiered in 2014 in London, by the Arditti Quartet. The three pieces explore the multiple expressive, harmonic and spectral resources of the string quartet.

They form a complete cycle, but can also be played separately.

The first piece is an exploration of harmony and timbre and includes a work on micro-tonality, whereas the second is a miniature based on short instrumental and rhythmic gestures. The third piece explores the idea of “stimulation/response” (here accent/harmonic) as a base for a detailed counterpoint to create rich harmonic textures.
