This piece was written for the Ligeti Quartet's tour of China in 2012. It is an arrangement of the piece 'Sai Ma' – a very well known Erhu tune – with a spectral slant. The introduction which precedes the arrival at the original tune draws attention to the presence of the harmonic series in the pentatonic modality.
