Inspired in the poem "La incauta y descuydada mariposa" [The incautious and careless butterfly] by Fernando de Herrera (Sevilla [Spain], 1534 - 1597).
Inspired by the poetic motif of the irrational attraction that the butterfly feels for the flame, for its light irradiation, which pushes it irrepressibly to immolate itself in the fire.
The paradoxical character of the phenomenon harbors a symbolism that is capable of endowing it with a whole range of spiritual resonances, where the butterfly metaphorically embodies the soul, the flame represents passion, and the act of self-immolation symbolizes the regeneration of the soul, the internal struggle and the desire for transformation.
Musically, the work twists the image to draw an analogy with metaphorical symbolism, expressed mainly through timbre and gesture tension.
