While this piece uses just-intonation parlance, and is focused on a high level of pitch precision, justly-tuned sonorities are often blurred or obscured with tempered or non-JI pitch material. Many of the string techniques employed prioritize instability and irregularity. The unpredictability and fragility of these gestures should be embraced and brought out as much as possible despite their potential effect on pitch precision.
